Subfloor Preparation

We understand that in order to achieve a perfect floor finish, subfloor preparation is key.

Subfloor Preperation

Subfloor preparation is one of the most critical steps in any flooring installation. As floor layers, we know that the finished floor is only as good as the surface beneath it. Proper prep work ensures a smooth, level, and stable foundation, which helps prevent issues like bumps, uneven wear, cracking, or adhesive failure down the line.

The process often involves checking the moisture levels, removing existing floor coverings, cleaning up debris, and inspecting for damage like cracks or dips. Depending on the condition of the subfloor—whether it's concrete, timber, or screed—we might need to grind, patch, self-level, or apply a moisture barrier before laying anything on top.

Skipping or rushing subfloor prep can compromise the integrity of the whole job, so we treat it with the same attention to detail as the finish layer. It’s not always the most visible part of the project, but it’s definitely one of the most important.
